Dear Prospective Practical Nursing Student,

 

Thank you for your interest in our Practical Nursing Program.

 

In order to be considered for entry into the Practical Nursing Program, you must meet or exceed the following criteria:

• You must have a high school diploma or a G.E.D.
• You must have a passing score on the Nursing Entrance Test (NET).  This score must be in the top test scores submitted.
• The Practical Nursing Program Application Packet will be sent by mail to the participants with the top scores after the last test date. All paperwork must be turned in and completed by the dates stated in the packet.
• If you wish to reactivate your past test scores, a reactivation form must be filled out and submitted. Forms may be accessed through our website (www.ttcwhiteville.edu) or by calling the office.  Test scores are valid for only three years.

 

NOTE:  The class starting September 2, 2008 will be held at our Brownsville Extension campus.

Each test session will be limited to 13 students. Test fee is $30, non-refundable. The fee must be paid with cash or money order, in advance.  No checks! Limit of one test twice a year at this facility.

 

No tests will be scheduled until proper payment is received.

 

Please arrive ten minutes prior to schedules test time.

 

You must bring valid photo identification.

 

All necessary materials will be provided for you (pencils and scratch paper).

 

Calculators are not allowed.

 

The test will include Essential Math Skills; Social Decisions; Stressful Situations; Learning Styles; Reading Rate; Reading Comprehension; and Test Taking Skills. 

 

You must score a 42% on Essential Math Skills and 51% on Reading Comprehension.

 

The test takes about 2.5 hours to complete.

 

The NET is a computer-based test, which evaluates reading comprehension and math skills. If you are concerned with your academic skills in these two areas, we are offering a NET Preparation Course. This course will help you brush up on those skills as well as teach you test taking techniques and tips. If you are interested in attending this course, please let me know.

The cost of the preparation class is $78.50, non-refundable.  This fee includes 4 class meetings and the test. The fee must be paid with cash or money order. No checks! There is a limit of 20 students per session.
